Psychiatric Rehabilitation<\/b>, a branch of science, aims to help MPM patients\/trainees who\u00a0 need special support, such as referred cases suffering from obsessive compulsive\u00a0 disorder, bipolar disorder and psychotic symptoms, with the hope that MPM trainees can\u00a0 be accepted back into society.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Pasir Mas community is a producer of various agricultural products, with land that is\u00a0 suitable for various types of agriculture. MPM that operates within the HPM area has a\u00a0 large and abandoned land, which is very suitable for carrying out this project.\u00a0 This project will benefit MPM trainees in cultivating <\/span>work habits<\/b>, as well as <\/span>work skills <\/b>based on agriculture and inclination towards agriculture and rehabilitation.\u00a0 Apart from that, train trainees in skills in emotional management, financial management,\u00a0 self-reliance in life skills such as planning, shopping, preparing food, & home\u00a0 management.<\/span><\/p>

INTRODUCTION\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

The healing effects of people-plant interaction among psychiatric populations in\u00a0 residential care facilities and outpatient community settings have been showed\u00a0 improvement in psychopathologic symptoms among patients with schizophrenia <\/span><\/i>(Oh,\u00a0 Park, & Ahn, 2018)<\/i><\/b>, a decrease in agitation in people with dementia <\/span><\/i>(Edwards,\u00a0 McDonnell, & Merl, 2013)<\/i><\/b>, and decreased levels of anxiety, depression and stress among\u00a0 individuals with psychiatric disorders <\/span><\/i>(Kam & Siu, 2010).\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>

This project involves 7 trainees who have been consulted, on the land allowed by the\u00a0 hospital director to be cultivated by MPM, as a start with the Banana Project (300′ square\u00a0 area : 60 banana trees) & Eggplant Project (1100′ square area : 600 polybags) . This\u00a0 project uses a fertigation and care system on a schedule with trainees and the proceeds\u00a0 are sold to wholesalers. Among the challenges faced is the threat of domesticated & wild\u00a0 animals, disease attacks, dependence on weather conditions & falling demand in the off season, as well as physical burdens: it takes a lot of time & energy, capital.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

CONCLUSIONS\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

This project has had a positive impact on <\/span>the trainees involved, with the <\/span>continuous cooperation of the hospital\u00a0 <\/span>management we have worked on two <\/span>abandoned land sites and two sites that <\/span>have not yet been worked on.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Cooperation from the Pasir Mas <\/span>Agriculture Department in terms of <\/span>guidance and advice, and providing a <\/span>place for trainees to take short-term <\/span>courses to give exposure to proper <\/span>agricultural techniques.\u00a0<\/span>The collection results are easy to market <\/span>with the demand and distance of the <\/span>nearby morning market sales site.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Challenges in agriculture are always <\/span>there, with the cooperation of related <\/span>government agencies to some extent can help to launch this project such as the\u00a0 Department of Agriculture\/Jabatan Pertanian and the Department of Wildlife\/Jabatan Perhilitan.\u00a0<\/span>We will continue to collaborate directly and continuously with other government\u00a0 agencies to ensure that our results and collections are maintained and of good quality.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
