CONSULTATION CLINIC
Although the clinic in MENTARI is a ‘specialist’ clinic, it accepts self-referrals apart from the conventional sources of referrals recognized by MOH.

COMMUNITY PSYCHIATRY SERVICES (CPS)
This service provides continuity of care for patients already on follow-up with the respective psychiatric department. Its multi-disciplinary team facilitates early discharge from the ward, recovery from an acute phase of illness, and prevention of relapse for patients with severe mental illness.
Management includes symptom and illness management, training on the use of medication, dealing with side effects, and provide psychoeducation for clients and families.

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT - INDIVIDUAL PLACEMENT AND SUPPORT (SEips)
The service focuses on competitive employment for clients with severe mental illness who want to work; and who are receiving treatment in that respective hospital.
This program is led by dedicated staff, trained occupational therapist, or paramedics. Job matching, job search, job placement, job analysis, and intensive job coaching will be carried out based on patients’ progress. The team provides personalized benefits counseling and facilitates the benefits application for clients and continuous support for working clients and employers.

EMPLOYMENT TRANSITION PROGRAM
A MENTARI is under the direct supervision of a psychiatric hospital shall be under the authority of the head of department/ medical director of that hospital. A psychiatrist will be appointed as person in charge of the Mentari to oversee clinical governance and leadership aspects.

JOB CLUB AND RECREATIONAL THERAPY
To promote positive interactions with other clients by effective use of leisure time and to promote patient empowerment through patient-led activities.

COLLABORATION VIA VOLUNTEERING, OUTREACH AND NETWORKING
MENTARI may collaborate with other government sectors, non-governmental organizations (NGO), academia, or private companies to create partnerships in promoting mental health, service provision, and community empowerment especially in providing jobs for patients with moderate and severe mental illnesses.

MENTARI is a new approach initiated by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) to improve outreach and re-integration of people with mental health problems into the community.
