RAHMAN Mobile Mental Health Exhibition Softboard

Mentari Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Description of Project

The primary objective is to raise awareness about the mental health continuum, reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, promote help-seeking behaviors and emotional well-being practices, and prevent suicide through individual education and outreach events. Our team establishes a clear timeline for creating a work plan -to allocate financial, material, and human resources. Considering the data required to make decisions at each step and include adequate time for planning and execution.
Initially,we evaluated the resources available to create this project. Seeing that we had a few items that could be recycled and used from broken/unusable items such as the base of an office chair with castors and an adjustable rod height as part of our creativity to make this exhibition soft board. Our team also aimed to use recycled low-cost materials so we can make more units of the exhibition board. Once all materials were available, further assessment of the primary objective and survey to best utilize all available materials was done.

Some challenges were faced during this project -to choose a soft board that is convenient to change the materials of the exhibition, ensuring the weight of the soft board could stand firmly with the materials used as the base, to ensure the soft board can rotate on the rod, the size of the soft board is adequate to fit in the vehicle and materials used are light for easy carry on and the exhibition board is easy to fix and dis-mental for use. These challenges were overcome by great teamwork and constant guidance from everyone involved

Conclusion

This project was started as a thought to further enhance mental health awareness as an exhibition during MENTARI promotional talks to the community. Throughout this process,we were facing some difficulties such as finding the right materials, time management, and skills. However, with great teamwork, constant guidance, and ideas from all involved, these difficulties were solved in making it a success to serve the purpose.Nothing is impossible if you put your mind and heart into doing something. The mobile mental health exhibition soft board is currently functioning at our MENTARI unit and has created awareness not just to our clients, but to their family and friends as well. This RAHMAN project is dedicated to our belated Mr. Mohd. Rahman Ismail, a senior medical assistant who passed away on 18 February 2021. He initiated the mobile board innovative project and contributed tothe development of MENTARI Kinabalu. We have lost a true gent. In memory of our friend, colleague Chief Rahman.
